The Mid-Year Review Part II

June 26, 2009 Leadership, Personal Development 1 Comment

As we enter the final week of June, I thought I would share with you some of the results from my Mid-Year Reviews with my team of sales professionals. For some background on the tool that I used this year for my reviews click here. This year I went outside the box a little on conducting the reviews. I held one review while walking outside on a beautiful sunny day; I’ve done some over the phone; some in-person at my office; and even a few at a coffee shop.

Below I’ve listed the most common behaviors in each category of the Keep-Start-Stop exercise we reviewed. It was amazing to see how beneficial this exercise was for my team.

Behaviors to KEEP doing:

  1. Adding new people to my database every week
  2. Staying in touch with my sphere of influence and specifically telling people how they can help me grow my business
  3. Learning about the market – know average time on the market, average sale price, types of seller concessions, interest rates, etc.
  4. Attending training and coaching sessions to help stay focused and accountable
  5. Finding as many articles, songs, and books to help me stay positive

Behaviors to START doing:

  1. Utilizing all of my company’s tools and services to connect with clients and win sales opportunities
  2. Living in the moment, the here and now!
  3. Implementing business improvement projects that will create opportunity for me in the future
  4. Ask for help and counsel from my coach, other agents, and sphere of influence
  5. Figure out how to use online social networking to grow my business and stay in touch

Behaviors to STOP doing:

  1. Procrastinating and allowing myself to get off schedule
  2. Allowing negative influences and self talk to shape my behaviors
  3. Waiting for my phone to ring or the next Internet lead to show up in my inbox
  4. Worrying about tomorrow – living fear based
  5. Waiting for the market to turn – this IS our market – it’s time to adapt to it and create opportunity

If you’ve not had a mid-year review yet with me or your current leadership please give me a call to setup an appointment over the phone, at a coffee shop, or in my office. I’m here to help you identify the specific behaviors to help you be more successful and set SMART goals for the balance of 2009.

Make it a great day!

Thanks Dan for not only your listening ear and words of encouragement, but mostly for your sound advice as a coach and mentor. You keep us focused and motivated! Thanks also for sharing your mid-year review compilation with us -it’s good to know I am not alone in my thoughts, struggles and challenges in my business.
